Questions To You Guys

I have been at the stadium for all the matches for the Chennai Super Kings and I have a few questions for the rest of you guys, especially those supporting other teams.

1. Who are the stars who provide entertainment at your venues ? I know Akshay Kumar did some daredevilry in Delhi once, and Imran Hashmi did some random dance in Hyderabad, but what else happens other than that ? What about in Mumbai ? Kolkata ? Jaipur ? Bangalore ? I seriously want to know because I presume there would be something but can't figure it out watching on TV.

2. Do you have some performer who performs throughout the length of the match like we have Sivamani who strikes up his beats after every boundary and every over ?

3. Watching the matches on TV sometimes gives a better idea of the outfield and the pitch. For e.g. I realize that the boundaries in Bangalore are quite short and Eden Gardens produced an absolute shocker but I couldn't exactly figure out these things about my own Chennai stadium. What did the commentators say on TV ? All I could make out was that the outfield was lush, the boundaries of a decent size and the pitch a good one for batting without being too obscene ? Are these impressions correct ?

Proud To Have MSD Leading My Team

I am very touchy about captains not walking out together to toss. Sehwag did a Ganguly yesterday and kept Dhoni waiting. This is a most annoying and sad practice that has cropped up in cricket (at least in Indian cricket) these days.

I presume Sehwag and Dhoni are not on the best terms what with Dhoni keeping Sehwag out of the ODI team and in the long term, taking over the honor of Indian captaincy from Sehwag. (Sehwag was a prospective captain until not long ago.)

But this still does not explain not following the basic cricketing etiquettes.

Modern day Indian cricketers fall into two schools -
a) The Ganguly School - of brash, headstrong, almost arrogant cricketers who with their attitude bring a dash of aggression and that X-factor. Harbhajan, Yuvraj, Sreesanth, Uthhappa and now Sehwag all belong to that school.

b) The Dravid-Tendulkar School - of couteous, gentlemanly, dignified, elegant and hard-working cricketers who prefer to let the bat/ball do the talking. VVS, Kumble, Irfan (probably) and sadly, hardly any youngsters belong to this school.

The best part about MS Dhoni is that he seems to bring about the best qualities of both schools. He will never hesitate to give it in your face or speak his mind out when the need arises, but otherwise he holds on to his dignity. As home captain he was playing the perfect role to both Ganguly and Sehwag whose behavior was less than desirable.

It is no coincidence that all youngsters in this team look up to Dhoni as their undisputed leader. He is more mature than all of them put together yet when the time comes to show the steel he will take the fight to the opposition like he did against Australia.

Truly it is a matter of great pride to have this fine ambassador of cricket as the captain of my team.
